1066
After a short introduction to the
England of 1066, students study the events of this momentous
year
through the eyes of each of the four major protagonists, Harold
Earl of Wessex (later King Harold II),
Tostig (Earl of Northumbria at the start of the year), Harald
Hardrada King of Norway and
William Duke of Normandy.
In each case, they face the decisions faced by each one and
should get an idea that the options
were not clear-cut at the time and that chance played a major
part in the outcome.
A final section covers the Bayeux Tapestry which is displayed in
three scrolling and annotated 'acts'.

Castle
This program is an adventure game, closely based on the
splendid mediaeval castle of Warkworth
in Northumberland.
In the game, you play the part of a page sent into the castle
as a spy.
You have two tasks to try to complete.
-
First you must make a plan of the castle as accurately as you
can for your master.
This will not be easy as there are over 100 locations to
discover.
-
Second, you must find three parts of a golden goblet which are
hidden somewhere in the castle.
There is danger in the castle and you must be careful at all
times.
You must show that you know your way about a castle and you must
not get caught
in the wrong place unless you are in disguise. You will need to
find various things to help you
including a bunch of keys, a torch and a disguise.
You will also need to know the day's password which can be
overheard
if you are in the right place.
Finally you must get out of the castle safely, once you have
completed your tasks.
At present this program is being upgraded, although a dos
version (text only) is available.
This program is suitable for ages 12+ with a reasonable reading
ability.
